Student Experience

Support for Students in our Certificate Programs

Student Success Coach

Once you are admitted to one of our certificate programs, you will have the option to work with our student success coach. The coach is here to help you through the enrollment process, and develop a custom program plan based on your preferred academic timeline. Once you're taking courses the success coach will ensure you're aware of the academic resources available to you, and will be present to help you stay on-track with course assignments.

We know life happens particularly for adult and professional learners who have many variables impacting their lives. If a life event requires you to adjust your academic plans, the student success coach is a resource to help you adjust your academic plan accordingly.

Technology Support

Life can be complex, and we’re here to make sure learning online won’t be. If you have questions or need support, you’ll find the help you need 24/7. Learning is delivered seamlessly through Canvas, honed over years of use and continually updated to ensure your experience is easy and intuitive. You’ll have access to UVA’s complete Canvas support resources, and if you have questions, the Canvas support team is available around the clock, every day of the week.

Technology extends well beyond your learning platform, so whether you have issues with connections, passwords, or software, the UVA Information Technology Services team has you covered. You can chat, call or email for support and expect a quick response no matter the time of day or day of week.

Standard Course Schedule

Prepare for the CPA Exam

This 30-credit post-baccalaureate accounting certificate can be completed in as little as 20 months by enrolling in two courses per term. However, we recommend that students with a full-time work schedule take only one course per semester, at least until the intermediate level is completed. It is also recommended that students not enroll in Intermediate Accounting during the same semester as Cost Accounting because these courses are very demanding.

Please note that SCPS may cancel, modify, or make substitutions as deemed necessary in any given semester, which may affect the length of time to complete the certificate.
