
Eddie Reyes
Eddie Reyes is a U.S. contractor in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He has served as a subject matter expert in policing, advanced technologies and control room operations. He focuses on enhancing decision-making, operational workflows, and data visualization in public safety. Previously, he was Director of Public Safety Communications in Prince William County, Virginia, where he oversaw 9-1-1 operations and emergency dispatch for one of the state’s largest municipalities. Before that, he spent 28 years in law enforcement and worked as Senior Deputy Chief of the Alexandria Police Department and Deputy Chief of the Amtrak Police Department’s Mid-Atlantic Division. He played key roles in major incidents that included the 9/11 Pentagon attack and the 2002 sniper case. At Amtrak, he led security planning for Washington Union Station during the 2017 U.S. Presidential Inauguration and stood for the agency at the 2016 national presidential conventions. A leader in public safety communications, Mr. Reyes co-represented the IACP in lobbying efforts that led to the creation of FirstNet. He has chaired the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Police Communications Committee, Virginia’s State Interoperability Executive Committee, and the IACP’s Communications and Technology Committee. His expertise includes land mobile radios, CAD systems, body-worn cameras, license plate readers, gunshot detection and sUAS. He has also served as a Senior Law Enforcement Project Manager with the National Policing Institute and continues as an Executive Fellow. Additionally, he contributes content and advice to Policing Insight and Policing TV in London.
