Advisory Board Member, Center for Public Safety and Justice

With a Bachelor of Commerce from University of British Columbia and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, Jess brings a strong academic background to the practice. He is also the first Canadian to graduate from the Los Angeles Police Leadership Academy (formerly known as the West Point Leadership Academy).  

Ram is a professional member of the Canadian Counseling and Psychotherapy Association and holds the designation as a Canadian Certified Counsellor. He has been trained in Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) and Life Stress Reduction (LSR) as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). After completing the basic EMDR training, Ram completed specialized training for using this protocol with First Responders, after their exposure to trauma. He is now an EMDR Certified Therapist as deemed by EMDR International.  He has most recently achieved his Approved Consultant Status with the EMDR International Association and coaches therapists in effective use of EMDR. Ram maintains this status through continued training and dedication to the field. 

Ram has over 33 years of front-line law enforcement experience, retiring as an Inspector, and has fused that with 28 years of teaching experience at the post secondary level in Business Administration. He had a Provincial Appointment to the Board of Governors for the Justice Institute of British Columbia for three years. 

Ram's practical experience includes significant leadership positions within specialized law enforcement units and national certification in Critical Incident Command. He is an approved trainer as recognized by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF). In addition, Ram is certified in Critical Incident Stress Management by the ICISF in partnership with the University of Maryland, Baltimore Campus. 

Ram has taught within British Columbia, across Western Canada, nationally and internationally.  He has been published nationally. He headed a team and provided on-site support in New York after the events of 9-11, providing counseling services for the men and women of the N.Y.P.D.  

Ram provides services and on-going support for both private and public sector clients in both management and psychological services.
