Laura Worley Novey

Laura Worley Novey (LinkedIn) is a senior vice president at McGuireWoods Consulting, leading the firm’s national education industry team and assisting clients with policy and legislative matters with a particular focus on education issues at the state and federal level. Prior to joining the firm, Worley Novey spent 27 years in public service, including leadership roles at The University of Virginia and Virginia Tech. Worley Novey has served as the Secretary of Education for the Commonwealth of Virginia and as the executive director of the Governor’s Commission on Higher Education Reform, Innovation and Investment from 2010-2011, which recommended landmark higher education legislation, including greater emphasis on degree attainment, affordability, high demand degrees, innovation, operational efficiency and autonomy.
